Upton RFC mourning to the sudden death of club Stalwart

Nigel Banwell who was a club’c fixtures secretary for more than 30 years died last January 7,2017 after he collapsed while placing out the flags for Upton on scheduled Severn’s clash Midlands West Three South to Evesham.

He was 68 when he passed away, and leaves a widow wife Jane and a son Oliver who is the head coach of Upton’s and daughter Ruth who lives in Australia.

Senior North Midlands officials paid tribute to Mr.Banwell whom they work closely over the years. According to Charlie Hemmings the North Midlands Chairma, he’s sudden death was absolutely shocking and deep sadness. As he was a true gentleman and his charm and knowledge cannot be measured and he will be surely missed with his committed and devoted input to is club duties as well as county representative.

His death was another blow to them as they had lost one respected players Nathan tomkins who suddenly died on Christmas Eve at the age of 22.
