Upton 2nds recevied a vist from Ledbury 3rds who were determined to make up for the home loss when Upton won earlier in the season. Upton started the stronger and were able to get on the score sheet first. After some build up play by ledbury just inside the Upton half, upton were able to turn the ball over and spread it wide where flanker Max Mcfarlane managed to break from half way to run round the full back and score under the posts. Upton continued the pressure and were rewarded before half time when Matt Shakeshaft went over for Uptons second try of the game to take a 10-0 lead into half time.
Upton came out determined to carry on where they left off and after spreading the ball through the backs and Shakeshaft was able to break the line from about 30 yards out and score under the posts converted by Steve Avery to give Upton a 17-0 lead. Ledbury then got themselves back into the game when the forwards collected the ball and built on a number of phases and were able to crash over the line. Upton seemed shocked by the score and allowed the ledbury forwards to control the game and again through the forwards they were able to crash over taking the score to 17-10. Ledbury were on a high and from the restart they were able to break down the touchline and almost went straight over in the corner however a last ditch tackle prevented the score. Ledbury continued the pressure with the forwards from the ruck and were soon over the try line again. The conversion was good to take the scores to 17-17 with 5 minutes to go.
Upton rallied back determined not to loose and were able to put some pressure back on Ledbury. The forwards took the ball in, and were able to gain valuable yards as they pushed closer to the Ledbury line. Upton were then awarded a penalty in front of the posts which was converted by Mike Dodge to give Upton a 20-17 lead with only minutes to go. Upton then held on for the win.
